The life we currently have has been 10 years in the making ✨ I met @dawnkingston 10 years ago when we were slinging drinks on the beach and we continued to bartender together in Amesbury. All while we were pouring shots, chasing that dollar, and living the carefree life, we talked bout our dreams for our futures. . . . Dawn told me she bought a camera and was investing in growing herself as a photographer. I volunteered myself for many photo shoots with her 😂 Over the last 10 years she has not only captured my life as a wife, mother, business owner, and friend, she has been there right along with me to develop our dreams together! Many late nights over wine, discussing what we could offer this world and how we were going to just go after it. . . . We decided to launch our joint venture Gold Wave Media this year and we are not only growing our dreams, but helping those around us realize theirs as well! I am honored to have Dawn as a bestie, biz partner and all around bad-ass human in my life! I can’t wait to share more about Dawn at REP + Rosé on Wednesday night! I didn’t ask for it. . . I didn’t post a selfie looking for a compliment. I don’t put myself out on social media so that I can receive validation about my appearance. I post because I’m sharing my story and my life in hopes that I can connect with that person out there who needed a few words of encouragement or tough love that day. And I truly believe that’s how most women are. We want to be respected for the beautiful + powerful creatures that we are. RESPECTED is the key word here. . . Being sexually harassed online is something many people won’t talk about. They think it’s not a big deal or that it’ll blow over. But the reality is, it is a big deal and I don’t think enough women speak up about it, including myself. It makes me uncomfortable when a man, who I may or may not know in real life, sends me a disrespectful message about a picture I posted. Or asks me to send inappropriate pictures of myself. Or makes me feel uncomfortable in a community I love being a part of. It makes me feel awkward when I see them in public or know their girlfriend or wife. But I am not asking for it. . . The truth is, I know this happens to a lot of women. And so many people make excuses for the men who do it. “It’s not a big deal”. “It was harmless.” No it’s not. It is not ok. I wanted to share this in the hopes that other women know they are not alone and they should ask for this digital sexual harassment to stop if it’s happening to them and that they should speak out. If someone is making you feel uncomfortable, speak up. . . You don’t deserve to feel disrespected and I am here for you. Social sexual harassment is not ok and I hope that more people start to take this harassment seriously. 💕
